Top Tips to Make Money With Google AdSense

Google AdSense is the most popular way to earn money online, but is it legit? Is it still possible to generate money with AdSense? Is it possible to make a fortune using AdSense?

I'll try to give you straight answers based on my experiences as an AdSense publisher, as well as examples from successful AdSense websites.

What is Google AdSense?

Although the majority of Internet users are undoubtedly familiar with Google AdSense, for the benefit of beginners, here is a brief summary of the program and its key benefits:

  • It is Google's business.
  • It is free for publishers.
  • It is a major source of revenue for Google. AdSense profits in 2020, Google's ad revenue amounted to 146.92 billion US dollars.
  • Advertisers use Google Ads to promote their goods and services on AdSense-enabled websites. Publishers are paid only when someone clicks on their advertisements (PPC – pay per click).
  • Publishers get 68% of income, while Google receives 32%  (or 51% when it comes to AdSense for search). For instance, if an advertisement pays $1 for a click, the publisher receives 68 cents and Google receives 32 cents.
  • The fee per click is calculated using an auction-style method.
  • It is the most dependable advertising platform available today on the Internet and is capable of generating the most income for publishers (compared to other similar PPC systems).
  • Apart from content websites, AdSense is accessible for games, movies, mobile applications, and search services.

How to make money with AdSense?

AdSense is free, easy to use, and provides you with 68 percent of the income. What more could you ask for when trying to make money using AdSense?

Important Considerations;

  • You need a well-written website with plenty of information.
  • You must have a good looking website.
  • You'll need a lot of visitors, and you'll also want to make sure you're using the appropriate keywords.
  • AdSense rules must be followed to the fullest at all times.
  • Websites should have a purpose rather than just be made for AdSense websites.

1. You'll need a website with plenty of content.

AdSense prefers websites with a lot of content. Content may be of any kind (text, pictures, or videos), as long as it complies with AdSense's content rules.

However, text content on the sites is recommended so that the AdSense crawler can identify what the website is about.

Websites that produce articles, case studies, how-to instructions (like this one), and blogs are more suited for AdSense.

One of the greatest methods to generate money with AdSense is to have a valuable site with information that helps visitors learn something or complete a particular goal.

If you don't already have a blog, see the post below. It can assist you in getting one up and running. (A tutorial for building your first good-looking blogger website)

2. You must have a good-looking website.

It is not enough to post AdSense-compliant content; you must also offer high-quality content on a high-quality website.

Advertisers don't want their advertisements to display on low-quality websites since Google is responsible for the money they pay.

This used to be possible, but in recent years, they've increased their rules on the kind of websites that may run AdSense.

3. You need a lot of traffic and to target the right keywords.

AdSense is a wonderful way to earn money online, and it's probably the simplest option if your website receives a lot of high-quality traffic.

I can't offer you a precise figure since the amount of money you can make is determined by the earnings per click (EPC) and click-through rate (CTR), but I don't recommend running AdSense on websites with less than 500 unique visitors each day.

However, the more traffic you have, the more money you may earn using AdSense.

Regarding keywords

You may earn more money with AdSense or any other advertising network if you target the appropriate keywords in your content.

What are the best keywords to use? Keywords include:

(1) Advertisers use keywords to promote their products.

(2) Action keywords: keywords which are more likely to ‘take action' after clicking, i.e., convert.

Here is an example:

Assume you have two AdSense-enabled websites in the weight loss niche. Both websites get the same amount of organic traffic and have the same ad placement.

Let's go together in as simple language as possible.

The first site receives traffic from keywords such as "weight loss tips," "how to lose weight," and "lose belly fat."

The second receives traffic from keywords such as "why drinking water is important," "what to eat after lunch," and "how many meals to eat per day."

Who will win here?

Because more advertisers are interested in those keywords, the first website is more likely to earn money using AdSense. As a result, the number of relevant advertisements accessible will be higher.

Your website visitors are also more likely to click on relevant advertisements than individuals seeking broad information, because users looking for advice or answers to their problems are more likely to click on a relevant ad.

This is also why organic traffic is valued more than other types of traffic, since it is more focused and converts better.

4. You must adhere to AdSense policies.

As I previously said, AdSense is one of the major sources of revenue for Google, therefore the company takes the program extremely seriously. While getting an AdSense account is very simple, if you do not follow their guidelines to the letter, you risk losing your account.

Find all their policies here - AdSense Program policies

Before placing AdSense on your website, make sure you understand their rules, whether you're an existing or new AdSense publisher.

Remove any thoughts of deceiving the system from your mind, and constantly remember that they have employed the finest experts to ensure that no one will be able to get around their rules and regulations.

5. Websites should have a purpose rather than just be made as AdSense websites.

In spite of the fact that AdSense is a great way of making money from your website, Google does not look favorably on sites built only for the purpose of using AdSense.

What's important to remember is that your website or blog must have a purpose beyond earning AdSense revenue. With a well-established blog and a large number of visitors, you can earn money with AdSense.

It's possible to earn money from your website by using AdSense, but it's not advised to create a blog and post poor content only for the goal of obtaining organic traffic and then using AdSense to generate revenue.

Examples of websites that monetize their traffic via AdSense

To be more specific, allow me to provide a few examples of websites that profit from AdSense. While reading the samples, try to connect these websites to the points I made before and to understand how they implemented all of the guidelines.

Example 1: Hellen Life Talks

Hellenlifetalks is owned by Hellen Uhuru Mhondo a Tanzania lady who is a blogger , web  designer, developer and digital marketer. Hellen is using a blogger platform and Adsense is one of her monetisation on the site.

Let’s see how she is utilizing AdSense.

She has a lot of ads on each page. One ad is located above the fold, while the others are located below the fold but inside the main content area. In the sidebar, she also has a few adverts.

Example 2: Entrepreneur Magazine Website

Entrepreneur is a website dedicated to provide Advice, insight, profiles and guides for established and aspiring entrepreneurs worldwide. They also use Adsense on their site too.

Example 3: Jobwikis

Can you identify what they have in common after looking at the sample websites above?

Here is my point of view.

  • They are content-rich websites with high-quality information, they get a lot of traffic, and they adhere to all Adsense policies.
  • They follow all the webmaster's rules and guidelines.
  • Although they contain advertisements above the fold, they do not obstruct or degrade the user experience.
  • Their advertisements may be seen in both the main text and the sidebar. The reason for this is simple: the main content area's click-through rate (CTR) is higher than the sidebar's, resulting in more clicks and therefore more AdSense revenue.
  • They all provide other services or goods and are not just focused on AdSense.

Is it possible to earn a living using AdSense?

I've already discussed how to earn money using AdSense, but can you make a life doing it? To put it another way, can you rely only on AdSense to cover all of your expenses?

Yes and no are the answers.

The reason for this is not that you can't earn hundreds of dollars each month using AdSense and live well, but rather that you can't depend on just one source of income.

The internet world is more volatile than the physical one, and you can't assume that thousands of people will always visit your website and click on ads, or that AdSense will continue to operate indefinitely.

Maybe, but you can't rely on it for your income. Diversifying your risks and income, whether online or offline, is always the best strategy.

How you can be paid with Google Adsense

Every month, AdSense sends you money. Your earnings are calculated and finalized at the beginning of each month. You are eligible to a payout if your monthly earnings are more than $100. Payments go out between the 21st and 26th of the month.

AdSense offers a variety of payment methods, including:

  1. Cheques
  2. Electronic Funds Transfers (ETF)
  3. Wire Transfers
  4. Western Union Quick Cash

Simply choose the one that works best for you.

Final Thoughts:

The greatest method to earn money online is by using Google AdSense. If your website meets the requirements outlined above, you may earn a decent monthly income by making the most of your content and the time you spend online.

Remember that building traffic takes time, but once it does, you're nearly always assured monthly payments from Google, depending on your niche.

But always remember NOT to violate any of their guidelines for any reason. Once you break the rules, you are out of the program once and for all.

While AdSense may be an excellent way of boosting your income, it is not your only option.

Take a look at any online freelancer or blogger to get an idea of how things operate and how they earn from other sources. However, although AdSense is wonderful, you should have a variety of revenue streams.
